“Wait and see” means watching your child’s curve grow.
- You’re told to “just monitor,” or that there’s nothing more anyone can do.
- Every six months, you wait to hear whether the number went up again.
- You’re afraid of making the wrong decision for your child’s future.
No parent should have to sit and watch. You know your child better than anyone, and you get to decide what happens next. We’re here to help you do it.
Two real journeys. One led to surgery. Yours doesn’t have to.
Growth spurts are often when curves progress fastest — and when the body is most responsive.
Starr
Diagnosed at 12. Wore a traditional brace and did everything right.
The Jensen family
Told surgery was inevitable at 62°. They kept searching.
Shaded area: surgical range, which often begins around 45–50°
Starr’s curve kept growing every six months despite following the plan, until the recommendation became spinal fusion surgery.
The Jensens’ daughter was treated with custom bracing, targeted therapy and advanced imaging — no surgery, no permanent hardware.
Measurable change, tracked with standing MRI
We track progress with standing MRI — no repeated X-ray exposure — so you can see measurable change over time.

How we’re different from “wait and see”
Scoliosis care in Oklahoma City for kids and teens, built around correction instead of watching.
Dr. Janzen has been where you are.
Dr. Matthew Janzen, DC, Doctor of Chiropractic and founder of Scoliosis Care Centers
When his own daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis, he wasn’t willing to just wait and watch her curve grow. He set out to find a better way to treat it and was able to reduce her curve by 97%. That work became the treatment system our clinics use today, focused exclusively on non-surgical scoliosis care for children and teens.
- Scoliosis only, since 2008. Custom bracing, scoliosis-specific exercise and monitoring.
- Follows SOSORT guidelines, the international scoliosis society’s standards for non-surgical treatment.
- Results you can see. Progress is measured on standing MRI, not guesswork.
- Honest about surgery. For some severe, fast-progressing curves, surgery is the right call, and we’ll tell you.

What success looks like
- A child who stays active and keeps living a healthy life
- Curve correction, not just “stable”
- A future that isn’t defined by scoliosis or surgery
“If we stayed with the hospital, we would have been getting ready to do surgery. Instead, her curve is down to 10°. That’s amazing, to me, this is like a miracle.”
“Now, she’s 18, and she’s going to go to college, and she will be able to walk tall and proud of who she is.”
This may be a good fit if
- Your child is still growing
- You’ve been told to “wait and see”

Questions parents ask
How do I know if my child has scoliosis?
Scoliosis often develops during growth and may not cause pain early on. Common signs include uneven shoulders, one hip higher than the other, or a visible curve in the spine. A screening can catch these changes early.
Does scoliosis always require surgery?
No. Many cases can be managed without surgery, especially when detected early, through specialized bracing, exercises and ongoing monitoring.
Can every child avoid surgery?
No. Some severe or rapidly progressing curves still require surgery. The goal is to find out whether non-surgical options are still appropriate before assuming surgery is the only path.
Is Dr. Janzen a medical doctor?
No. Dr. Janzen is a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). Scoliosis Care Centers focuses exclusively on non-surgical scoliosis treatment, including custom bracing, scoliosis-specific exercise and standing MRI monitoring, following SOSORT guidelines. If your child’s curve needs surgery, we’ll tell you.
Do you offer scoliosis screenings in Oklahoma?
Yes. Our Oklahoma City clinic provides screenings and evaluations. We evaluate spinal alignment and discuss next steps for monitoring or treatment if needed.
