Scoliosis surgery once involved Harrington rods, and has evolved over the years to more modern techniques. From pedicle screws and rods to more modern tethering using VBT, scoliosis surgery has long been thought to be the only option to treat large curves.

However, this is not the case. Current scientific and medical research has proven that bracing can prevent the need for surgery, and also straighten the spine with results that last 15-20+ years. While some severe cases (ie. neuromuscular) may require surgery, the majority of curves can be successfully treated without the need for a scalpel.
